Muslim Welfare Society
Our Story
In late Seventies the Indira Nagar Colony Lucknow came into existence in 550 Acres of area and allottees started pouring in not only from Lucknow but also from various districts of UP and even from different states. Consequent to this, the UP Housing Board notified an extension of further 817 Acres thus a gigantic infrastructure of 1367 Acres was envisaged. While this colony was a Bonanza for the allottees, it also created a few social problems as almost all residents were strangers not only to each other but also to the people of merged and surrounded villages who were engulfed by the colony. This situation warranted a few intellectuals and Social Activist to form a few Non Govt. Organizations to address the following problems prevailing at that time.
- Class Inequality
- Cultural Misunderstanding
- Language Barriers
- Social Integration
- Resource Allocation
- Prejudices’ & Stereotyping
- Security Concerns
- Communal Harmony
&
Right to Freedom of Religion
Accordingly, a number of Trusts & Societies , RWAS were formed and “Muslim Welfare Society” was one of such offshoots.
